Singing to the Mets at Citi Field
A few weeks ago I had the privilege of chaperoning my children when their choir sang at Citi Field prior to the start of the Mets baseball game. We arrived at the stadium at 9:30, and at 10:15 our stadium escorts brought us inside for singing practice. My heart pumped faster as we passed through the security gate in a ragged single file and walked through a maze of narrow hallways. Suddenly, I saw a wedge of sky at the end of the hall, stepped up a few stairs, and there we were on the field. I raved to my older daughter, "This is so cool. Do you have any idea how cool this is? This is childhood fantasy cool." I was a jammering idiot, and I was having a blast.
